Asian Television Network International Limited (ATN) announces that it has received approval from the CRTC for 10 new category 2 licenses plus 2 in partnership with Bell Canada and TSN and Vision TV.

Toronto, November 27, 2000, Asian Television Network International Limited (YTN), a publicly owned Canadian broadcasting company, announced today that it has received approval from the CRTC for 10 new category 2 licenses plus 2 in partnership with Bell Canada and TSN and Vision TV.

ATN is Canada's only licensed broadcaster providing 24 hours a day seven days a week service in a number of South Asian Languages to South Asian communities in Canada. These new licenses will allow ATN to broadcast 24 hour regional language channels in Punjabi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, and Telegu and a 24 hour Hindi movie channel in addition we will broadcast 24 hour channels for the Arabic and Caribbean/African Communities. ATN will also present a multicultural channel in partnership with Odyssey Television and Fairchild Television. ATN will capture the ethnic niche market across Canada.   Shan Chandrasekar, the President and C.E.O. of the company indicated that these new licences impart to the company a potential to grow by quantum leaps. Amongst the new licences, one is in collaboration with Bell Canada and TSN for an International Sports Channel and the other is in collaboration with Vision TV and Radio Nord.
